Shooting on Location

Guidelines for safe practice

We have created a list of key considerations for working safely on location. Our guide is intended to be supplementary to government guidelines, and will be subject to revisions according to further government announcements.

First and foremost - use common sense, you are responsible for your own safety.

Recce

Recce should be arranged via FaceTime / video conferencing, if possible. If it is necessary to view in person, then only key person should attend, and private travel to the property should be arranged.

All internal doors should be kept open for client to move easily through the property, and key person should not move any furniture or personal items within the location.

Recce should be kept as brief as possible, and social distancing measures should be maintained throughout the visit.

On booking the location

The hirer will be responsible for carrying out a risk assessment, to ensure that all sensible measures are put in place which will reduce the risk of contamination. We will require a copy of this prior to date of hire.

Travel to location

Private transport should be used, such as private taxis for those without own vehicle. Alternative means of transport such as cycling should also be encouraged.

On set

One dedicated member of the team to co-ordinate all staff and monitor control measures at all times.

Tiered arrival times should be arranged, in accordance with agreed start time.

All members of the team should sanitise, or wash hands thoroughly on arrival. PPE should be provided including gloves and mask.

All equipment brought into property should be disinfected before being brought into the property.

Any hired in equipment should be agreed prior to hire with BEC Locations. If suppliers are required to enter the property then they will be expected to adhere to all of the same rules. Delivery drivers should remain within their vehicle where possible.

All members of the team should stay 2m apart at all times. Clear areas should be defined for each department’s own dedicated work space.

One way access and walkways should be marked to avoid congestion in narrow spaces. All internal doors to be kept open within the areas being used.

Access is allowed only to those areas agreed with BEC Locations. Out of bounds rules should be respected for any rooms marked or closed off.

There should be regular cleaning of all areas being used.

If any member of the team starts to feel unwell, then they should make the production manager aware and leave the premises immediately.

The team are permitted to use only one bathroom in the house, which will be discussed and agreed before the hire.

Catering & Refreshments

Please bring all supplies with you, including disposable cutlery, plates and cups which should be disposed after use.

Meals and snacks should be pre-ordered and pre-packaged.
Do not use the fridge/freezer, or use any of the location owner’s supplies.

Cleaning
Once production has wrapped, all areas of the property being used should be cleaned thoroughly. All rubbish should be double bagged and taken away with you.

We are facilitating bookings and working together to permit the creation of beautiful material, in the incomparable backdrops of real life homes. We ask that all members of the team are honest, and use their best endeavours to not only ensure their own safety but to consider that of the families who occupy these properties.

We will not permit any bookings at locations where the owners might be at high risk.

Our cancellation policy will be relaxed where a cancellation is necessary due to a key member of the team becoming unwell.
